Boy month... oh boy!

It's boy month over at one of my favorite blogs, Dana Made It, jointly with Made By Rae. Check them out for some creative inspiration and cool tutorials.
Since 've just had a second boy, I felt inspired and compelled to try and put a few garments together. I'd already made a few tops for Miro, a diaper bag and a sleeping bag (I've since made another one). I also recently made him some pants/ leggings out of an old tee shirt of mine that had become too small...

Some catching up

While we were living the simple life away from technology I got crafty and did a bit of sewing. Some for Tahi, some for myself and some for selling.
I'm all about comfort, and I could live in loose tee shirts and track pants type pants all year round if it wasn't for my need for more style. The problem with op shops is that it's very hard to find nice comfortable pants that don't look like your grandma's. So well I resort to getting the grandma type pants and use my sewing machine to get them looking decent. Even in my own house I wouldn't go as far as wearing that totally doesn't suit me.
I found a pair of XXXL (yes!) track pants brand new, tag still on, at our local op shop. The fabric is bamboo, which is sooooft and so comfortable to wear. So I bought it and used a pair of pants that fit me as a pattern. I'm pretty happy with the result!
XXXL= a lot of fabric!

Lounge around pants in action... and the growing bump!

I did the same with another pair, some stripy white and red cotton from Country road that were very unflattering and a bit too big. So now I've got two comfy pairs of pants to wear around home all that for not more than $10! Yipee!!!

mini art journal challenge: week 23

This week's prompt: "Right now". It just happened that last sunday was father's day (in New Zealand anyway, I always get confused since various countries have various dates). So I thought I'd make my card based on this theme and honor Tahi's awesome dad and their close relationship. We moved to small city Gisborne partly because Josh wanted to have time to spend with his boy. And it had been great in this regard, for both of them. Tahi is so lucky to have a dad that can take him swimming, play with him and take him for a run on the beach. They read stories at night and recently Josh has even been able to put him to sleep (a big step for us!). Tahi loves his dad and when he goes he'll often say "Tahi wants his dad" (in french). It is so cute and always gives me a warm feeling inside when I see them together.

This card is very simple! I glued a photo taken about a year ago of Tahi and Josh kissing on the front porch at some friends' house (with my Mamiya, the film was then cross processed, giving it that etheral contrasted greenish look). I wanted to add more, but it felt like the picture worked on its own, so I just wrote "this magic moment" on a step at the bottom with a felt tip pen.

Here are some pictures of the finished hoodie and 3/4 pants I was making last week for a custom order. I think they're just too cute!
